I am going into my 3rd season coaching for ZLAX 8U. During my college years I played Men’s Club Lacrosse and made great friends and memories. After I graduated, I went into teaching and began to coach Varsity Girls Lacrosse for East Lansing High School in Michigan. I am currently teaching at Zionsville Community High School and live in the community. I love being a coach and board member for ZLAX. My wife and I appreciate being members of this community and being involved with organization like ZLAX. Go Eagles!
My name is Melissa Wirth and I am excited to be coaching the Zionsville 10U Girl's Lacrosse Team! I grew up in Michigan where I played lacrosse in high school and in college. I also have lacrosse coaching experience of all ages (K-12). When I am not coaching, I am the Literacy Coach at PVE in Zionsville. I can't wait to take on the 10U team again this year.

I’m looking forward to my second season coaching the 8U boys team this coming spring and sharing the field with my son. I began playing lacrosse in 5th grade and have been around the sport my entire life, coaching for over 15 years. I played at Heritage Christian and then on the Butler University team as a goalie. I have coached both the girls and boys high school teams at Heritage Christian, as well as offering private lessons and aiding as a coach for the MaxLax small group instruction. Professionally, I work for one of the largest professional services firms and focus on talent development. When I’m not on the ZLAX sideline, you can find me playing DadLax or at one of the many other activities my children are involved in around Zionsville. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and the talent of both coaches and players we have at ZLAX! Go Eagles.
I will be entering my second year of coaching the 10U Zionsville Lacrosse (ZLAX) team in the Spring of 2023. I played multiple years of lacrosse in High School for Zionsville including the first-ever, Zionsville High School Varsity lacrosse team in 2000. I follow the game very closely, and am a level 1 certified coach with USA lacrosse. I only see myself getting more involved moving forward. Professionally, I lead a competition management software business within Logitech called Challonge.com. I also lead the Sponsorship Fulfillment and Communication platform, PartnerHQ.com Philanthropically, I sit on two boards including the Zionsville Lions Club, a service-based organization, and Charitable Allies, which provides low-cost legal services to nonprofits. For fun, I'm a runner, gamer (video games and tabletop games), fly fisherman, hobbyist entrepreneur, casual poker player, and Dad Lax lacrosse player (we need more dads, so let me know). I really enjoy coaching lacrosse and getting more youth interested in the game.

Coach David Taler grew up in Baltimore, Maryland which is often referred to as the cradle of lacrosse due to its long history of high level play at the youth through collegiate and professional levels. He attended Gilman School, where he was a 3 year defensive starter, winning 2 State Championships. His senior year, the greyhounds, were the #1 ranked team in the nation and is still considered one of the best high school teams in history. He continued his lacrosse career at Franklin and Marshall College where he helped change their program from a lower level Division III team to leading the Diplomats to their first appearance (and victory) in the NCAA tournament in over 20 years. At Franklin and Marshall, David was 4 time All-Conference, team captain and named to the North-South All-Star team.
However, despite Coach Taler's success as a lacrosse player, he didn't pick up a stick until the 6th grade, a fact he reminds his newer players. "You can be as good as you are willing to work for!" is a key emphasis to all of his players since he began coaching in the Carmel youth system 6 years ago. His excitement and passion for the game can be heard across the fields as he is consistently finding new ways to motivate and share some of his knowledge. He is excited to join Zionsville's U14 team and has been helping with summer tournaments and MaxLax in preparation for the upcoming season.
